Contemporary

Contemporary dance combines ballet technique with modern dance, creating both imaginative and artistic performers.

Our Contemporary Dance classes  are designed for those aged 6 years and up, and will teach students  contemporary technique from Grades 1-6. This is a fun and creative class which utilises various explorations and props to build skills and confidence. The class allows a lot of freedom in performance, particularly as we use a lot of improvisation.

Students will have the opportunity to take examinations under NATD, which will also gain them UCAS points. They will have the opportunity to gain Medals which involve performing a costumed dance for an examiner as well as formal exams. Exams involve a number of Contemporary set exercises which incorporate floor work, rolls, stretches and barre work. This class is a fantastic opportunity to prepare for the professional dance industry. Particularly if your child wishes to study dance from GCSE onwards where contemporary is the main genre studied.

WHAT PEOPLE SAY

Great ballet class my little girl has a fantastic time every week & loves showing us her new moves.

My daughter loves her ballet classes and I love the adult classes too. Carmel manages to make the classes fun for all ages.

Carmel is brilliant with the kids and has really engaging, fun classes. My daughter has grown in confidence so much since starting ballet.

My little girl has done classes with Miss Carmel from the very first lesson when the classes started up and she LOVES it. It's a great way to introduce her to dance. Each lesson is different and really creative. Big fan of the classes.
